Requirements to be met in any stage

To register a .ad domain name in any stage (i.e., during the transition and opening phase and during the General Availability phase), you must comply with the General Domain .ad Registration Regulations. In addition to complying with these regulations, the following additional requirements must be met:

• Generally accepted as legitimate;
• Not detrimental to the image of Andorra or Andorran interests, at the discretion of the Registry Operator;
• Given the importance and meaning of the domain name to which it refers.

How to register a domain during the transition and opening phase?

During this first phase, which will run from May 22 to October 16, 2024, you can register a .ad domain as follows:

To register a domain for Public Institutions, brands, or Andorran commercial names:

• You must provide proof of being an Andorran Public Institution or owner/licensee of the registered trademark.
• The application must be processed through an accredited registrar, such as Andornet.
• Once validated, the requested domains will be assigned without having to wait until the end of the transition and opening period.

If the above requirements are not met, you can register a domain as follows:

• The person or institution requesting the domain must provide documentation proving their status (names of Andorran legal entities, foreign trademark holders without effect in Andorra, Andorran residents, holders of pre-existing domains in other TLDs, etc.).
• The domain application can be made at any time during two periods: from May 22, 2024, to September 4, 2024, and from September 5, 2024, to October 16, 2024.
• The application must be processed through an accredited registrar.
• The assignment of these applications will not be immediate and will depend on the corresponding priority order. Applications will be created as domains in pendingCreate status and will require validation by the Registry. The priority for assignment will be determined on a first-come, first-served basis, and there will be no priority among the mentioned categories.
• If none of the above rights apply, a .ad domain can also be requested without any priority (in the "landrush" category) from September 5, 2024, to October 16, 2024. These requests will have the lowest priority during this phase. If there are no identical priority requests, the requested domain can be obtained. How to register the domain during the general availability phase

The General Availability phase will open on October 22, 2024, at 13:00 UTC and will continue indefinitely. During this phase, domains will be automatically created on a first-come, first-served basis without prior validation by the Registry.
